Short answer: Alphaa vs LLMrefs is a choice between measuring and doing. LLMrefs is an AI search analytics tool that tracks keywords and fan-out prompts across about ten engines for $79 a month. Alphaa is an AI agent for one business that asks four assistants weekly and drafts fixes for the owner to approve, from $99.

We make Alphaa, so read this page with that in mind. Everything said about LLMrefs comes from its own pricing page and homepage, read on 31 October 2026. Where LLMrefs does not publish something, we say so rather than guess, and we have not used its paid plan ourselves.

What is the difference between Alphaa and LLMrefs?

The core difference is that LLMrefs reports how visible a brand is in AI answers, while Alphaa acts on what it finds and asks the owner to approve each change. LLMrefs describes itself as an AI search analytics platform and LLM brand visibility tracker. Its homepage lists share of voice and position metrics, the source URLs that engines cite, competitor benchmarking, auto-generated fan-out prompts, content gap insights, geo and language targeting, CSV exports and API access.

Alphaa does a narrower job end to end. It asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity the questions your customers ask, runs a 23-point check of what those assistants can read on your site, and then writes the fixes: FAQ pages, structured data, an llms.txt file, Google Business Profile posts and review replies. Nothing goes live until the owner approves it, and it publishes to WordPress, Shopify and Webflow through its integrations.

How do Alphaa and LLMrefs compare side by side?

Side by side, LLMrefs wins on engine coverage, price per prompt and multi-brand tracking, while Alphaa wins on doing the work for an owner who is not a marketer. This table uses only what each company publishes.

How much does LLMrefs cost compared with Alphaa?

LLMrefs lists a single plan at $79 a month, which is $20 less than Alphaa Starter, but the two prices buy different things: analytics across many brands versus a done-for-you service for one. The LLMrefs plan, called All in One and aimed at marketing teams, tracks 500 prompts for brand mentions, sources and fan-out queries, includes all its AI engines with no extra fees, and refreshes weekly visibility reports. The page offers a 7-day free trial and says you can cancel any time.

Two details are worth noticing before you budget. First, the $79 price is labelled "limited time only", and the page does not say what it will be afterwards. Second, the FAQ refers to needing "more than 50 keywords" and says you can upgrade to add more, but the price of extra keywords is not listed. If you plan to track a large keyword set, confirm the cost in the app before committing.

Alphaa costs $99 (Starter), $199 (Pro) or $299 (Full Service) a month, month to month. There is no free trial; the free 60-second AI check shows what the four assistants say about your business today, and plan details are on the pricing page.

Which AI engines does each tool track?

LLMrefs tracks more engines: its FAQ lists ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok, Copilot, Meta and DeepSeek, against Alphaa's four. All of them are included in the one plan rather than sold as add-ons, which is unusual at this price.

Alphaa asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, the assistants a local customer is most likely to type a question into. It does not report on Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek or Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode as separate surfaces. For Google's AI features, Google says in AI Features and Your Website that there are no additional requirements beyond being indexed and eligible for a snippet, so the site fixes that help the four assistants are the same fundamentals Google rewards. If your report must cover a dozen engines, that favours LLMrefs.

How do keyword-based and question-based tracking differ?

LLMrefs starts from keywords and generates the prompts, while Alphaa starts from the questions a business's customers ask. Both approaches end up sending natural-language prompts to AI engines; the difference is who chooses them and how many there are.

LLMrefs says it generates fan-out prompts from real conversations people have with AI chatbots, then rolls the results up per keyword into share of voice and position metrics. That suits an SEO team that already thinks in keyword lists and wants a familiar report across many topics and countries. For background on why one question becomes several searches, see what query fan-out is.

Alphaa keeps the question set small and specific to one business, such as "best emergency plumber in Leeds" or "which accountant in Denver handles restaurants". The aim is not a broad market report but a short list of what to fix this week. If you want to understand the measurement side in more depth, our guide to prompt tracking explains how tools count prompts and why the numbers vary.

Who does the work after the data arrives?

With LLMrefs, someone on your team reads the reports and makes the changes; with Alphaa, the agent drafts the changes and the owner approves them. That is the deciding question for most small businesses.

LLMrefs offers content gap insights and lists free resources such as an AI crawlability checker and an llms.txt generator. We did not find a feature on its pricing or home pages that writes pages or publishes them to your CMS, so plan for a person, an agency or another tool to do that part.

Alphaa assumes there is no marketer. It decides what to fix from the weekly answers and the site check, writes each fix in plain language, explains why, and waits for a yes. Every published change can be undone. The trade-off is breadth: you cannot track ten engines, dozens of countries or unlimited brands the way you can in LLMrefs.

When should you choose LLMrefs over Alphaa?

Choose LLMrefs if you have someone who will act on AI visibility data and you want broad coverage at a low monthly price. These signals point that way:

  • You report on engines beyond the big four, such as Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek or AI Overviews.
  • You track several brands or client projects and want them under one subscription.
  • You need results by country or language, CSV exports or API access.
  • Your team already writes and publishes content and needs a measurement layer on top.

When should you choose Alphaa over LLMrefs?

Choose Alphaa if you run one business, nobody on staff does marketing full time, and you want the fixes written for you at a flat price. These signals point that way:

  • You want to know whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity name you for local or category questions.
  • You would rather approve a finished FAQ page or schema fix than read a share-of-voice chart.
  • Your site runs on WordPress, Shopify or Webflow.
  • You do not want to manage keyword lists or interpret position metrics.

Neither tool can edit what an AI model believes, and neither can promise a recommendation. Both work through the public signals assistants read. How do you decide in 15 minutes?

Decide by running both against the same customer questions and asking who will act on the result. Four steps:

  1. Write five customer questions. Use a buyer's words, such as "best family dentist in Austin" or "which payroll app suits a small cafe".
  2. Run Alphaa's free check. It takes about a minute and shows what the four assistants say today.
  3. Start the LLMrefs trial with the matching keywords. Look at which prompts it generates and whether its report answers the question you care about.
  4. Ask one question of each result: who on my team turns this into a change on the website, and by when? The tool whose output you will act on is the right one.

What else do buyers ask about Alphaa and LLMrefs?

Is LLMrefs good for a small business?

It can be, if someone will act on the data. At $79 a month LLMrefs is priced within reach of a small team, but it is an analytics tool, so a business with no marketer still needs someone to write and publish the fixes.

Does LLMrefs have a free trial?

Yes, its pricing page offers a 7-day free trial on the All in One plan as of October 2026. Alphaa has no trial; its free 60-second check shows what ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity say about you before you pay.

Does Alphaa track Microsoft Copilot or Google AI Overviews?

No, Alphaa asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. If reporting on Copilot, AI Overviews, Grok or DeepSeek as separate surfaces matters, LLMrefs lists all of them in its single plan.

Can I use LLMrefs and Alphaa together?

You can, though most small businesses only need one. An agency might use LLMrefs to report across many clients and Alphaa to draft and publish fixes for a single local client, but a one-location business should usually pick one.

Does either tool guarantee that AI will recommend me?

No, and be wary of any tool that says it does. AI answers vary from run to run, and both tools work by measuring or improving the public information assistants read rather than by controlling the model.
